Yadira Velazquez, MD

Certified in Adult Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology, with Neuromuscular Medicine and Functional Neurological Disorders expertise.

Dr. Velazquez was born in Cuba and received her medical degree from the University of Barcelona, Spain, in 2009. She completed her neurology residency at Cooper University Hospital/University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) in 2013, and her fellowship at Hershey Penn State Medical Center in Pennsylvania, in 2014. Upon graduating, she became the director of the electromyography laboratory at Christiana Care Health System in Wilmington, Delaware, USA.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, like it happened to many, Mother Nature reminded Dr. Velazquez of the importance of integrative living, instructing her through psychedelic medicinal substances about the mind-body-emotional-spiritual connection. Dr. Velazquez then started meeting many of her teachers in the path of shamanism, which led her to found Science & Shamanism, an international movement positively impacting holistic functional health at a personal, familial, communal, societal and global levels.

Dr. Velázquez writes books, scientific articles, actively performs research, education and social activism, while representing the intersection of methodological research with ancestral integrative methods of healing and healthy living, in multiple scientific and shamanic gatherings.

Below, Dr. Velazquez wishes to honor the scientific and shamanic paths, institutions and leaders that have brought her to this point in her personal and professional career, emphasizing the vital role that psychedelic medicinal-spiritual substances have had in her awakening, life realization and active social contribution.
